Make/Shift

Window/Seat is one of three architecture/furniture hybrids designed to create a portable sense of home. The bisected couch is hinged so that each side swings inward towards the other. The couch has a built-in slanted back wall of painted beadboard, and a shingled roof overhead. Each armrest is detailed with an ornate metal pull. When the seats are pulled together a hidden interior space opens between the seats, revealing a Victorian style house exterior with painted siding and window frame. As the sitters reposition the couch to face one another, a small shelter encloses their shared space.

Wash/Closely is one of three architecture/furniture hybrids designed to create a portable sense of home. This mobile, double-sided sink and vanity is centered around a single shared basin with an opening above, allowing each user to see the hands of the user on the opposite side. Each side has a drop down stand covered in vinyl tile. When both vanity cabinets are opened another window is revealed. The piece allows the users to share their private bathroom rituals with others in public.
