Solo Exhibition: Queer Constructs by Michael Borowski

Selected work from the series Home Reports and Objects of Interdependence will be on exhibit at Gallery 201 in the Lynchburg Diversity Center from November 3rd through December 13th. First Friday, November 3rd, Gallery 201 welcomes "Queer Constructs," a solo arts exhibition by Michael Borowski. The opening reception will run from 5:30-8:00 pm, with a talk by the artist at 6:30 pm. Assistant Professor of Photography at Virginia Tech, Michael uses metaphors of construction and building throughout his interdisciplinary work. Through photography, installation, and performance, he addresses ways in which societal values are expressed in urban environments and imagines alternative visions of domesticity. Skeptical of the traditional, single-family home, he works to open up the imagined and physical limitations between strangers and public versus private space. Gallery 201 is located inside the Lynchburg Diversity Center on the 2nd Floor of Riverviews Artspace. Queer Constructs will be open to the public during First Fridays, scheduled community events, and regular office hours, and also by appointment through December 15th, 2017. Please direct inquiries for appointments to our Gallery 201 Curator, Amanda C. Sandos, at gallery201@lynchburgdiversity.org
